It was a thorough and decisive victory for the Mexican team. 3-0 is what the scoreboard read after their encounter with the Jamaican Reggae Boyz at the the Azteca. Although the Boyz can take solace in the fact that this has been their smallest margin of defeat at the Azteca, the clinic that the Mexicans put on, might be somewhat disheartening. With Ian Goodison nursing an ankle injury out of it, they might actually be feeling somewhat vulnerable as they have yet to play Honduras in their away match. All in all, the campaign still is drawing many parallels to the previous successful campaign, with the Boyz still remaining in contention to book a spot out of the “Group of Death”.
It was cause for celebration and pandemonium as Jamaica’s track stars put on yet another stunning display of power at the Van Damme Memorial meeting in Brussels on Friday night. Bolt finished yet again ahead of Asafa Powell with Nesta Carter and Michael Frater rounding out the top 4. Bolt won in 9.77s to beat Powell.
Antigua and Barbuda batted resolutely to pile up an unassailable 326 run first innings lead to and then piled on another 200 for 526/9 declared to win the Leeward Island Cricket Association’s three day competition. After dismissing the visitors, St. Kitts, for 200 on the opening day, they made certain of the their win through Head Coach Leon “Kuma” Rodney who had high praises for the team after their effort.

The Bahamian 4×400 team of:
Michael Mathieu
Avard Moncur

Christopher Brown
hung in down the stretch to fend off a last ditch effort by the Russian Federation team to unseat them to take the 4×400M relay in Beijing on Saturday. Christopher Brown showed true Caribbean grit and guts in race that pitted the small nation against a star studded lineup in both the American and British teams to make it unto the podium. Congrats team Bahamas

The bronze winning team consisted of:

Usain Bolt has proved the pundits right with a magnificent run that has him beating the seemingly unbeatable record of Michael Johnson, running 19.30 to top a crack field that included the previous olympic champion, Shawn Crawford. Churandy Martina put in a sterling performance, setting a National Record in the process to make it a Caribbean 1-2 on the podium. Bolt’s performance beats Johnson’s record by a full .02 seconds. So awe inspiring was the performance that even the American team was elated with the performance. Wallace Spearmon shouting his congratulations into the camera. Windies Sports congratulates Usain Bolt on a stunning and superb performance on the world’s largest track stage.

Melaine Walker exercised the calm resolve of an assassin in executing a near flawless 400M Hurdles plan to come out on top of the field. Walker came through in the last 100M to decimate the field, beating the closest finisher by a full second to finish in 52.64s a new Olympic Record, the 4th fastest time in history. Sheena Tosta and Natasha Danvers were only able to get second and third. Windies Sports congratulates Melaine Walker on her superb representation of Caribbean athletes everywhere.
